Guillermo del Toros Pinocchio Afdah. The action of the plot of this cartoon takes place in the 1930s in fascist Italy. At the beginning of this story, we are introduced to the same sad Geppetto, a lonely woodcarver whose life was devastated during the First World War. Once he had a son, they played together, sang, laughed and had a good time, until a bomb dropped on the small Italian village where they lived ended the boy's life, leaving Geppetto alone in his grief and with a wound in his heart.
Two decades later, the carpenter Geppetto, at the peak of his tragic suffering, decides to make a puppet. By cutting down a special tree for him, he creates a doll, which the Blue Fairy gives life. She also orders Cricket to serve as the conscience of this creaking wooden boy, who is given the name Pinocchio. The wooden boy, having turned into a living creature, turns out to have a great curiosity for the world. With narrator Sebastian working on his memoirs, Pinocchio begins to learn about the plans of others who want to use him.
So the main character - a revived puppet for the first time goes on a journey. Pinocchio begins his career in a traveling puppet theater where he meets its owner, Count Volp, who dreams of creating a popular attraction. Then Pinocchio is forcibly enrolled in a fascist youth camp run by the local head of administration. When this ambitious military official learns that Pinocchio is essentially immortal, he hopes to use him, and even his own son Candlewick, as a weapon of war.
